When it comes to predator control on the homestead, trapping is incredibly efficient and often quite necessary. But trappers are a tight-lipped group of folks, and their age-old practice is often one that is passed down generationally. Even learning how to operate traps can be a bit of a journey, as they don’t often come with user-friendly instruction manuals attached. For these reasons, we’ve taken the liberty of creating a hands-on video demonstration of how to set a classic foot trap. Be sure to keep in mind that to legally trap you must abide by the wildlife laws enforced by your state of residence.
Trapping is heavily regulated by state wildlife agencies. It is not uncommon for there to be a required trapping class, or test that must be attended or passed, before your state will issue you a trapping license. Do your homework and stay safe.
